6-Day Land Tour of Thailand’s Historic Sites, Daily Life, and Nature — with a Jungle Overnight
Begin in Bangkok with visits to two of Thailand’s most distinctive markets.
Watch the train pass through the stalls at Maeklong Railway Market, then travel by boat through the canals of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Continue to Kanchanaburi, where you’ll visit the Bridge on the River Kwai, the Tham Krasae cave, and ride the Death Railway along the scenic viaduct.
End the day with a boat ride to a remote jungle resort for an overnight stay.
On the next morning, choose between relaxing at the resort, visiting Hellfire Pass, or hiking to Erawan Waterfalls.
An optional elephant experience can also be arranged in the area.
In the afternoon, transfer to Ayutthaya for an overnight stay.
The following morning, explore the historic temples of the former Siamese capital.
Continue north to Sukhothai, home to another remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site.
Along the way, and if time permits, stop at Kamphaeng Phet to visit lesser-known ruins.
The day after, visit the UNESCO-listed Sukhothai Historical Park, take part in a morning alms ritual, and explore the temples, with the option to use a bicycle.
Then travel toward Chiang Rai, stopping to visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, one of Thailand’s most important Lanna-style temples.
The next day, explore Chiang Rai’s main sites, including the White Temple, Blue Temple, and the Golden Triangle.
Visit the Opium Museum and stop at the Mekong River viewpoint.
An optional boat ride on the Kok River may be arranged depending on river conditions, before continuing south to Chiang Mai.
End your journey in Chiang Mai, where your private guide can take you to key temples such as Doi Suthep, Wat Pha Lat, Wat U-Mong, Wat Phra Singh, and Wat Chedi Luang, or tailor the day around artisan villages, markets, cultural experiences, or activities such as soft rafting, ziplining, or other outdoor options.
This tour brings together UNESCO World Heritage cities, major historical landmarks, traditional markets, natural landscapes, local daily life, and cultural heritage across central and northern Thailand.
It’s designed to suit a variety of travel interests and can be tailored to your preferences.
From the fascinating scenes of daily life at the train market and floating market, to the breathtaking train ride along the most impressive section of the Death Railway; from the thrill of spending a night in the jungle, to the stunning landscapes and UNESCO temples frozen in time yet kept alive by daily rituals; from the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and Blue Temple of Chiang Rai, to the Golden Triangle and the scenic boat ride on the Kok River; and from the elephant camps to the golden chedi of Doi Suthep towering over Chiang Mai — this journey offers a vivid and colorful portrait of Thailand.
